Meet Ingrid & Jack

On Friday, Oct. 29th at 2 am, we headed out to a horse auction. 18 hours later we arrived home with five draft horses that needed us the most. Read their story.
Every horse at an auction has lost everything they knew, everything that made them feel safe. The stress and emotional trauma they go through puts a strain on their mind and body. When we rescue them they are worn out, their spirits are broken, most have given up. It’s as if they know they are at the end.

Once they arrive at the rescue, we think they understand that something has changed. They are surrounded by our intake team, who help them feel loved and wanted. One thing that is extremely important for these auction rescue horses is, literally, a respite. They are so exhausted and have been so worn down by what they’ve experienced; some have even been through multiple auctions or ownership transfers prior to landing at this one.

Welcome home our "Halloween Herd." You are safe. You are loved.
