Visiting the Farm

Visiting Hours
Saturdays & Sundays: 10 am - 12 pm

Please read through our policies and procedures to ensure an enjoyable visit to CDHR. The health and safety of the entire CDHR family, including our visitors, are of the utmost importance.

Visiting Etiquette

  • Visiting hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am – 12 pm.

  • Please park in the grassy area in front of the left ring as you enter the driveway.

  • Because it is very hot at the farm in the summer and without shade, we recommend you bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen and wear a hat.

  • Bug repellent is recommended, especially during the summer months.

  • Please note that we do not have public restrooms, so please plan for that before you visit.

  • Bring your camera/cell phone to take photos only. Do NOT bring umbrellas, flags, noise-making toys, or any objects that might startle the horses.

  • Photography is permitted. Please share your photos on Facebook or Instagram, tag us, and use #CtDraftRescue.

Because we are a rescue meant for our rescued equines’ peaceful recovery from abuse, neglect, and abandonment, please observe the following:

  • Please refrain from running and shouting.

  • Please wear closed-toe shoes; no flip-flops or sandals.

  • For your safety, talking on cell phones during tours is prohibited.

  • Fence climbing is prohibited.

  • Please stay with your group and keep small children from climbing on fences. Parents MUST accompany children throughout the tour.

  •  Our barn, sheds, and storage areas are off-limits to visitors.

  • Do not feed our horses. Many of our horses are on special diets and medications, and this can be dangerous to you and unhealthy for our animals.

Please respect the safety of the farm:

  •  Smoking is prohibited.

  •  Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

  •  Please carry out all trash.  Remember that the grass you walk on is food for our herd and must be kept clean of plastic and refuse for their health.

  •  Please remain on the outside of all fences.

  •  Dogs are not permitted on the farm.

  •  Our fences are electrified for the horse’s safety.

  •  Please watch your step and be aware of your surroundings. Our grounds can be uneven, rocky, and rougher than expected.

  •  There is absolutely no charge to visit. Although, all donations to care for our herd are greatly appreciated.

Your donation helps provide the crucial operating support necessary for everything we do here at CDHR. 100% of all funds donated go to the care of our horses
