When horses who have been neglected or abused come into the rescue, we often see the light is completely gone from their eyes. They give nothing away. They do not make eye contact. They don’t reveal anything about themselves. Then something truly beautiful happens. Through patience, care, and kindness the light comes back. The veil is lifted. One of the most wonderful parts of our work is to see their eyes shine again. This is what we do. We help them turn the light back on.
