Hello, My Name is Gulliver.

Welcome to Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue. I am the official representative and greeter at the farm. This is my job. I watch over everything and everyone. Autumn Ridge is my forever home because I suffer from a heart condition called Atrial Fibrillation and need medication daily to delay the onset of congestive heart failure. The volunteers take very good care of me and because I receive so much love I think that’s why my heart still beats on. Speaking of hearts, the love of my life, Willow, is my horse soul mate. I love her so much. We’re inseparable. She’s so gentle and beautiful. She’s a permanent resident at Autumn Ridge, so we’ll never be apart.

I was one of five Shire horses rescued by CDHR from a severe neglect and starvation case on Long Island. My former owner was charged and convicted on 5 counts of animal cruelty and neglect. Dr. Golub thinks that my heart condition stems from years of neglect. I was severely underweight and my poor heart could not fully recover. But look at me now. I have so much love to give. I love visitors, especially children that come to visit me, and all the volunteers who care for me. AND I give great hugs.

Come pay a visit to the farm. I’ll be here to meet you and you can hear all about me and perhaps the volunteers will let you give me a treat. You can also sponsor me, which would be wonderful because my daily meds are quite expensive. I’m also a big boy standing 19hh, so I eat ALOT.
